I'm sure this has been mentioned but the timing is appropriate.

Security guards at your residence saying hello, smiling, and opening doors the week leading to CNY. Rubs me the wrong way as they're usually half asleep or looking at their phone which I sort of understand with the monotony of the job. Still, I slip them a 50 bill. If they tried to be even a tiny bit nice rest of the year it would be significantly more.

They don't cook vegetables properly here. I know it's probably healthier and all but the rice is soft, the meat is soft, but I have to turn into Roger Rabbit to eat a piece of broccoli.
