    This might seem like a trivial matter and you think you’re helping someone in need. However, you should understand the implications of your actions and what legal implications these may have.

    It is better to err on the side of caution.

    It’s all fine and dandy until someone gets caught or they are exposed. If you’re fine and can live with the consequences that’s entirely up to you. Claiming ignorance is never a good defence.

    I have a friend who managed to legally sponsor a live-out helper who had previously been his part-timer when her main employer moved overseas. He was a single male living alone. He applied to Immigration for special consent for her to live out as he was a single male and she was a female, and he argued that it was inappropriate for her to live in his apartment. Approval was granted.

    Sorry I should have added - this was about 9 years ago. Live-out rules haven't officially changed since then though as far as I'm aware.

    You will definitely receive 2 mails from the Immigration, one is for acknowledgment of the application and the 2nd one is the notification of the released visa. Both employer and Employee will get the same content of the letter.
