hi,
there are four free to air channel in Hong Kong, 2 chinese, 2 Mostly english. The english channels have predominately US programmes I'd Say.
You can buy a TV card for your PC that will allow you to watch Hong Kong channels on your PC/laptop/etc.
There are pay TV channels available too of course, e.g. icable and NOW TV.
To watch UK TV from Hong Kong someone must record the show, then either send you the tape or upload a file to the internet. Some of the payTV channels have UK stuff, for example icable has BBC worldservices TV News.
hope this helps.
I must admit I got very exctited when I got Broadband TV, and they had BBC prime. I was thoroughly disappointed. In general its at least 10 years old, mostly 20 years. I hardly ever even bother to turn on Broadband TV, its full of free to air channels that you have to pay for. The best are the news channels where you can't really replace them with the Internet.
I noticed recently the BBC is launching MyBBCPlayer http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...io/4187036.stm although they state that its only for people in the UK! I guess it will be rather like what they do on their Radio site where you can listen to a program a week after it is aired. I applied to be one of the testers for this service, but they never replied to my email. In the meantime the only alternative in my opinion is Bittorrent. First download azureus, then go to a file sharing site like http://www.isohunt.com and search for the TV you want. At the moment there is no real alternative, unless they bring Eastenders out on VCD I guess.
http://www.uknova.org has eastenders and a number of UK TV programs. The list of programs is VERY fresh.
You need to keep trying to signup - HKT 4PM on Sunday seems to be the best time to try and signup.
