    Golf

    Two questions:

What's the cheapest way for someone to play golf without a club membership? I would have to rent clubs and all. Price is way more important than quality to me.

And I know of a few driving ranges. Does anyone have any favorites? Are there any standouts as to price?

    Thanks in advance.

cheap and golf do not go well together here... In Hong Kong, you cannot touch a golf course without a certified handicap card and about $800+... not including clubs, balls, etc...

In China, its a bit cheaper, but you should go with a group so as to not be confused with the courses and stuff. I personally enjoy going out to zhongshan every once in a while, and it is about $600 for a guest card if you are playing with a member...

There is a great driving range in TST, right opposite to kowloon station (orange line). Without a membership, expect to pay about $150-200 for a few clubs and balls for a couple hours. There is also a few more ranges that are cheaper as you get out of the city. The driving range also has a great thai restaurant inside the facility, so if you go it would be a good idea to take a bite there...

If you ever wanna go, I try to head out there at least once a week.

I see. I expected to pay a bit, but didn't realize you'd need a handicap card. I used to play a lot back in the day, but I have no idea where I stand now. Probably pretty bad; it's literally been about 5 years...

Anyway, I guess I will have to be content with the driving range. Though as I live in TST, that will be very convenient! Give me a call sometime this week when you plan to go. I'm not free tonight, but any day from Thursday to Sunday should be fine.

I've been up and played in China a few times and with a ferry to Shekou, green fee, caddy, buggy and clubs I get a couple of quai change from HKD1,000.
If there's a group interested when it gets cooler I'm up for it.
