    Dehumidifiers

Hi, we are moving to HK in about 2 months and Im wondering if there are many shops that sell second hand stuff, especially dehumidifiers. Or is it best to get a new one?

If you are coming in about two months then you will probably more or less miss the humid season, which is April-August/September, so you probably won't need one until next year. There are various classifieds sites (including the one here) which have "leaving sales" where you can pick up all sorts of household stuff at knockdown prices, but basic dehumidifiers are fairly cheap. You may find that with judicious use of the aircon suplemented by chemical dehumidifiers in wardrobes and drawers you don't need anything more.

Second-hand stuff is available only on expat sites, but most Hong Kong people do not buy anything second-hand, therefore, you may not have much luck.

HK culture is not into second-hand stuff as much as US culture.

Dehumidifiers are not expensive. Going around HK to look at that second-hand dehumidifier is far more trouble.

BTW, I bought a dehumidifier last year, and usually use it only February-April each year. I think it was a waste of money and the machine occupies too much space.
