Gift for a friend relocating to Hong Kong

Hi all,

A friend of mine in the US knows a couple who will be relocating to Hong Kong and wants to get a gift for the wife, and she's thinking of:


1) Sony Reader or Kindle
- I heard only one can be used in HK or Asia, is this true?
- If both can be used, do you know which one is best to get most Western books and newspapers etc...?

2) Day Spa / Nail Salon for bi-weekly manicure/pedicure/waxing (kinda like Bliss / Dashing Diva in NYC)
- Is there anywhere in Hong Kong where you can buy a gift voucher from overseas? If yes, how much would it cost?

They actually opened a W Hotel in HK recently (on the Kowloon side), w/ a Bliss spa. I bet they can help. Try the website.

the kindle can only be used in the US iirc as it uses a data network only available there, making it useless for getting new books in hong kong
