    Well Tex, you're lucky then.
When you say your husband gave management "a talking to"...do you mean your owner or the bldg management?

We have no way of contacting our owners, as they are a group of investors.
We've exhausted all efforts with our bldg management co. Knightfrank.
I guess having good bldg management makes all the difference. Knightfrank has failed miserably.

Tex, that's a mjor breakthrough. can we have more info on that? i mean, what's the enforcement mechanism? if they do violate this agreement, can you stop paying rent, or as you put it, discount the amount? please elaborate if you don't mind.
and Kiki, is knightfrank and mgt co? sounds spooky just by looking at the name.

Well, the renovation that I thought was finished at 4 mths (from mid april to mid aug.) is'nt actually finished at all...oh gawd help me!

I thought a NEW apt. was being lightly renovated/decorated, but it's still the same one that being finished up. Why the hell would it take 5 mths to renovate an apt.?!

These retards for construction workers are staining the kitchen cabinets in the car garage downstairs!

Our apt. is on the G/F & the odors are just awful! The workers keep leaving the entrance doors wide open which allows the odors to seep into the building.

I'm not sure what shite for brains told them it was ok to stain cabinets in the car garage.
The worst part is that my husband just came home from the hospital after having major surgery a few days ago. This is all he needs!

The owner was told about this & was oh soooo apologetic...but today their doing it again!....does she have shite for brains too?, or are her workers just ignoring the request to keep the doors closed?

I'm so %*@#ing sick of living here I could just smack someone!

Any complaints to management will fall on deaf ears...yet again.

I feel for you Kiki...I'm a light sleeper at the best of times, but since moving to HK I can count the number of unbroken nights' sleep I have had on one hand....I live in Wan Chai, and at the moment they are re-tarmacing some of the roads. This would be fine if it didn't go on until (this is no exaggeration) 2am! Given that I am up every morning at 6.30, this is not great news - both a lorry and pneumatic drilling at all hours, has no one heard of sensible working hours?!!!

    Vix,
Sorry to hear that...is it legal for them to work on roads that late at night? I'd definately call the police.

    Hi,

I just made an online compaint and the police came out to investigate. He then proceeded to explain to me they would be "gone by 6pm" and he will ask them to keep it down. I explained it was a public holiday and I am pretty certain they shouldn't be working. He phoned someone, and then confirmed this but seemed more interested in convincing me to wait until 6pm as opposed to warning and fining the workers. He then agreed to advise them to keep it down and that was it.
The hammering is still happening, and I am not sure what to do? I feel if I call them, they won't do anything.

Any ideas? (still peeved as I was woken up on saturday at 9am by pneumatic drill vibrating the entire flat)
    Thanks

If it's the owner or resident themselves doing the work then they can do it on holidays during the day (and at night in an emergency - say if there is a burst pipe to be fixed). But workers other than the owner/resident are not supposed to create a noise on any General Holiday.

Nothing you can do about noise at 9am on Saturday.

You guys can all gloat in the next typhoon ... but right now, having just read this whole (old) thread... I am SOOO glad I live on a completely, dead quiet boat! At night, the only noise we hear is the odd fish jumping!
