they're nice and everything, but it seems rather random and expensive to have fireworks displays the way we've been getting them--like last night's. anyone know if there's a schedule/reason behind so many displays throughout the year?

just like the construction noise thing, only slightly more fun...doesn't make much sense.
The displays on the island through the summer are part of the Hong Kong Shopping Festival - which seems to me to be the "yes, it's bloody hot and bloody wet in summer, but tourists - we have lots of nice air-conditioned shops, so please keep coming" Festival
