if you was the HK govt, what new tourist attraction or leisure facilities

if you was the HK govt or a very wealthy entrepenueur, what new tourist attraction or leisure facilities would you build in HK? where would you build it?

Please can you input your opinions, I am helping a friend with their assignment for uni.

I feel HK could be benefit with a water theme park (such as chime long water park in guangzhou) as this would attract a lot tourist throughout asia and this theme park would be significant different to disneyland and ocean park as well as profitable one.

    Chime-Long: creating happiness

I also think HK should have a motor sports race track (like in macau) or Rally course as the divesity in sporting events is seriously lacking in HK.

somewhere in NT, where there is flat land would be the best area such shek kong area where the barracks on the basis that the cost of building would be cheaper, however, infrastructure would need to be improved there.

    any other suggestions?

    If you WERE...

Ocean Park used to have a water park. Your friend might want to check out why it closed down (to learn what didn't work).

Also, he could check out popular theme parks in, say, Las Vegas; although don't go with one of the latest ones being planned.

(LAS VEGAS, Nv) -- The Raelian Movement is announcing plans to build a UFOland in Las Vegas where visitors can attend a Happiness Academy and see a full-size replica of a UFO.

Raelians believe that humanity was created by extraterrestrial scientists and they want to share their belief with visitors to Las Vegas. They will also host a museum and a 1000-seat theatre where their spiritual leader, Rael, will give lectures.

"The museum will display all the evidence we've gathered for the past 35 years that shows we were indeed created by scientists -- highly advanced human beings from another planet," said Ricky Roehr, leader of the North American Raelian Movement.

How about a "leisure park" - not a theme park, but an area set aside for companies who run leisure activities, so it could have an ice rink, 10pin bowling, go karting, climbing wall, swimming pool, sports facilities, cinema, etc etc (all run by different people) with good transport links and covered walkways between each building. Add a few restaurants, AND NO SHOPS and it would be a great place to spend time, rather than having to fight your way through a shopping centre to find any one of the individual places here.....

I'd vote for a multi-plex stadium with retractable roof, with flexible seating to attract the maximum breadth of sports such as pro cricket, pro rugby, pro football (including NA style), pro tennis, pro boxing, pro baseball, pro basketball, Golden League track & field, and stadium concert tours, BEFORE 2021 as the government would suggest...we've got enough theme parks already, with more expansion plans at the existing ones already in the works....and the Shanghai F1 track is failing, why build another white elephant here?

    First of all
    dont let the government decide
they only tend to hub it up

Next the quest should not be to attract tourists
    that only makes for tackiness
remember the star ferry and the peak tram when they were for getting from A to B?

Don't copy things from other places especially if they are just next door. Macau is drowning in casinos, yet some fathead wanted to build one on Lantau "for the tourists" and also bar locals.

The raelians are great at coming up with off the wall ideas which never come to friuition. I remember attending a meeting here where they were planning on building in Jerusalem; absolutely brilliant at the time but in the cold light of day?

WorldWide Religious News-Raelians want to establish ET embassy in Jerusalem

My idea for a HK attraction would be a combination off shore wind and wave farm with an attached artificial reef cum columbarium.
Now if we had one of these babies spread out over a couple of square miles south east of Sai Kung, don't you think our neighbours would be green with envy?

zorbing down the peak would be fun... it would also be able to get you across the harbour too...

what about dim sum land? or an enclosed Dome/Bubble (like the Eden Project in UK) which has clean air - that would be popular with local HKers and mainland tourists (clean air? never seen that before...)
id pay to spend a day in there... haha!
