And .. can we get back on track?

I've fought hard to keep the Milkshake threads out of GeoExpat. The tend to lower the signal to noise ratio of the site.

skip the OTC crap and get the stuff that actually works

go into any doctor's clinic and tell him / her your sleeping problems and ask for a drug called dormicum (http://www.findrxonline.com/dormicum.htm). costs hkd 10 per 10 mg pill (in addition to the doctor's visit fee).

each pill (bear in mind i'm not a doctor, i just tell what i know) will knock you out in 5 minutes and the medicated sleep lasts a relatively precise 4.5 - 5 hrs.

advantage over other prescription pills - no drowsiness afterwards.
disadvantage - can be unarousable while pill is in effect.

    Been there many times.
If you have a sleeping problem or insomnia, try Ambien 10mg (half may work) or a new drug called Lunesta (has a greater half life than Ambien)
Both of these requires a prescription.
"Natural" remedies such as Teas, melatonin, yoga, or counting sheep will not work for someone with jetlag.
Your body is expriencing a time differance.
Need sleep?, go directly to the drugs.
No time to waste, the first few days are crucial in adjusting the sleeping disorder.
I usally ask my doctor to prescribe me 4 pills.
This way, he knows I'm not a junky and I always get my SLEEP.

    Hello

Understand you need something to 'work' but be careful taking 'Dormicum'.
It is a benzodiazepine like diazepam but is much more potent (used as a general anaesthetric for certain procedures) eg dental surgery. During this time you need to have full resuscitation equipment eg pulse oximetry/reversal agent if necessary.

People vary greatly in their response to such drugs and it certainbly shouldnt be mixed with alcohol/any other sedation.
I'm quite suprised that you can get this so eaily to be taken totally unsupervised!
I would stick to whatever your doc precribes/odd glass of sherry/cup Horlicks or physical exercise to exhaust yopu. Plus no caffeine.

    Good luck
    L

PS just noted that the 'Dormicum' was got from a doctor.
Even so, dangerous if you live alone/have any other medical problems/havent used benzo before etc etc . To be rendered 'unrousable' is dangerous - with the possibility of respiratory arrest.
Dont want to sound alarmis but I'd stick to the commonly used remedies, if I were you/. Insomnia will resolve if its for a specific reason. (unless youre a real insomniac who cant do without then I sympathise).
