I know this is going to sound extreme but I had a horrible time with my hair the first 8 months I lived here. Serious jew fro. I tried everything and it just looked greasy and unkept.
So, I ended up getting my hair chemically straightened like the locals do. (Yeah that's how the asian girls have their perfect straight shiny hair- they buy it!)
It lasts 5 months and I've loved it every since I got it. Can roll out of bed, do nothing to my hair and it looks like I spent hours with a straightening iron.
I know you wanted no chemicals and I never did anything with my hair before this but I know HK humidity can KILL a girl's hair.

I get attractive women (but not necessarily virgins - I'm an equal opportunities employer) to wash my hair with warm appledrink. I have not had a problem with frizzy ends since.
