    Mosquito bites!

Ok, three days ago my friend took me to a park near our office. I dint know her plans since it was her discovery and she really wanted to show me this park and share her happiness. I think she completely forgot how much mosquitoes like to bite me, and it happened. I have big mosquite bites on both my legs and its soooooo itchy, its really difficult to control it and I keep scratching both my legs. Any idea how can I get rid of it, Its big red marks and some bumps (or whatever it is called) on both my legs. I tried all grandma's ideas, toothpaste, ointment, deo spray, but nothing works for more than 10 minutes.
ok ok, I learnt my lesson and will not go to any park unless I am wearing full sleeves and full pants.
but right now any ideas of how to get rid of this itch, its driving me crazy.
    Any help appreciated.

Put tape on your bites, and next time use some florida (cologne) water. (You can buy it at almost any pharmacy; it's called 花露水. Two Girls is a popular brand.)

Go to a pharmacy and get some anti-histamine tablets, like the ones you use for hay-fever. Taking those will reduce the swelling and the itching noticably.

Once you stop scratching them the bites will get less red and eventually heal up.

    Strange but works
Mentholatum - Degongestant Analgesic Ointment - used mainly as a rub on to easy conjection when you have a cold.

HOWEVER - Its analgesic quality and ability to be skin absorbed works wonders for bites. I have used it for many years and the itch goes away in minutes, the swelling goes down overnight. If you havent scratched it there is no resulting mark. A wonder if ever there was one.

Boris, do you think its safe for a near-2 year old? My husband and I aren't as bothered with the bites but our toddler son gets horrible blotches all over his skin. I've asked our GP on an unrelated visit and her only suggestion was prevent them from biting him in the first place. Gee thanks, that was helpful :P. We've moved to our own little paradise on a budget as your user status suggests and have a garden but its so mozzie infested at this time of year we've not really been able to make use of it. Any help on how to sooth the swelling would be great. Thanks!

You can get a junior version if your worried but the label does say OK for Children and clarifies it as 2 and over. Its a very mild product and the pharmacist will sooth any fears you may have.

To STOP the bites next time your out use - OFF!. This Orange coloured can of repellent spray can be found in all the supermarkets and gives 8 hr protection. Its by Johnson and I think it has a junior version in a light blue can.

A while back in Mannings (I think) I bought a little plastic yellow thing for mosquito bites. You hold it to your itchy bite and it delivers a (gently) electric shock which really does stop the itchiness for a while. Turns out I don't get bitten much and don't react when I do so it's long lost in a drawer somewhere, but it was cheap and might be worth trying.

The girls in the office swear by tiger balm, but from what I can gather it's recommended for curing all physical ailments, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Yes this works completely agree with Boris, so does Vick's Vapor Rub and Tea Tree Oil.
