the Koenigsegg CCR @ home base

So is Geoexpat conducting tours to view and perhaps test drive the wagon?

The fastest road car in the world has arrived in Hong Kong - with a $10.8 million price tag.

And although it is made in Sweden, former Formula One driver Martin Brundle says the Koenigsegg CCR is "as far from a Volvo as you can ever imagine".

Boasting a top speed of 395km/h, 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds and a beefy 806 horsepower engine, the CCR has sped past the McLaren F1 to claim the crown as both the fastest road car and most powerful production car in Guinness World Records.

Decked out in the manufacturer's flagship orange, it made its debut at Ocean View Court at Cyberport. Only 299 of the special edition cars have been made and No46 has been chosen for Hong Kong.

Speedsters desperate for the ultimate fix, however, will be able to place their own orders which will arrive in six months.

"It's like driving with a jet engine strapped to your back," said Koenigsegg partner of operations Dinesh Bhatia, who took the supercar for a spin in Sweden earlier this year. But where in Hong Kong can you take this fierce, charged, rampaging beast?

"Well, you can show off the car at special functions in the evenings, or you can take it to the Zhuhai race track and really have your adrenalin pumping," said Gordon Choy, operations manager of Koenigsegg (Hong Kong).

It may have impeccable racing credentials but the CCR is devised to be equally at home winding along Hong Kong's hilly roads. The body of the car can be lifted 15cm to negotiate speed bumps or steep gradients. Also, the roof detaches and fits under the bonnet to allow for open-air driving. But remember to hang on to your hat.

another excuse for a geopat shindig

    Cyberport gets the chopper

The arrival of a new tenant in a building is not usually worthy of a press release, never mind a column item but we are talking about the Cyberport here. Invest Hong Kong was proudly touting a new addition to our technology hub yesterday. Sony? Intel? Apple?

Not quite. Try Flying-Cam. It's a Belgium-based firm that provides close-range aerial shooting for movies such as James Bond romps with eight remote-controlled helicopters.

Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong Mike Rowse was singing its praises yesterday, confident that it will attract even more market players to invest in the city.

We have no doubt it will be a huge magnet for Cyberport. And it is good to see Cyberport welcoming a high-flying tenant for a change. Now, in the name of efficiency, how about turning the place into a heliport?
