    Banks will not reveal the account name. You normally need to provide it with the account number when you make a deposit.

    Someone accpeting your cheque is not proof of rent payment - come on get with it!
    Keep the bank receipt and all the above suggestions blah blah blah.

    If the cheque is crossed a/c payee only then you are safe.

    By the way, is your tenancy agreement properly registered and stamped? If so, I'm rather surprised that that was possible without the landlord's address on it. And if not I strongly recommend that you get it done (the estate agent should have arranged this).

    Stamped but no address - surprised me as well when I saw it. Will make sure the check I write will be crossed. Thanks for the advice.

    By the way, did you get the agreement done through an agent?

    Surely the agent can get in touch in touch and resolve this for u?

    KiA,
    I think I just had bad luck - horrid agent who didnt do much and who never followed up on anything for me beyond drafting the tenancy agreement. And for this I have to pay 1/2 months rent.
