    Totally agree with you there.

And that's another thing.....junk food is quite harmful in the long term. Should we ban it too?

I agree that it sounds like to total waste of tax payers money. Police priorities should be set by how much other members of the public are affected.

It has absolutely nothing to do with 'expats are above the law'. I'm sure those who think it was a waste would think the same if it was a bunch of Chinese island stoners. I certainly would.
I am sure those in the 18th century would have said the same things about opium!

I am still bothered by comments like this. Aside from the "Us and them", it really comes down to whether the law has been broken. You may say the law is an ass but we can't have different laws based on class. I have ZERO tolernace for people taking drugs or those peddling it. How should we educate our kids about drugs? Say NO to drugs except if you live on Lamma Island and does no harm to others???

Do you extend this attitude to bar, club and restaurant owners?

Apart from legal drugs do you have any experience of doing illegal drugs yourself? Are there any other aspects of personal choice that you feel you have a right to intrude on the decisions and rights of others?

Educate your kids with the truth - cannabis is not harmful and the law is an ass.

Personally I can't take cannabis, it makes me want to vomit, but it is less harmful than smoking or alcohol (particularly to other people) so apart from "driving under the influence" I can see no reason why it is illegal and they are not. Well I can, lots of big business money tied up in alcohol and smoking, none in cannabis.

Was it a waste of money? The law is the law so I guess the police have to enforce it. I too can see much more productive uses of their time though.

Whoever says cannabis is not harmful, in itself, has not read the relevant literature.

Sorry but you need to learn how to read. I said Cannabis is not TOTALLY harmless, and did not compare to other substances. I have personally seen the effect of change people's character after long usage of cannabis, having lived in Europe. Also as a source check google, for instance this recent discussion in the UK with both sides of the studies considered:

BBC NEWS | UK | PM 'stands by stance on cannabis' :

"Mental health charity Sane was one group which gave evidence to the advisory group.

Marjorie Wallace, the charity's chief executive, said not enough was yet known about the direct links between cannabis and the brain.

She said she knew of hundreds of cases where people smoked cannabis heavily, in particular skunk, and went on to suffer psychotic breakdowns, hallucinations and paranoia. "

All I see are anecdotes. Anecdotes are not evidence.
