It is NOT illegal to take normal photos on the MTR. When you're in a public place you give up your "right" to privacy and can be legally photographed (as long as you're not on private property which explicitly prohibits it). However, taking a normal photo is very different than voyeuristic praying on underage girls. Additionally, the photos taken in public, cannot be used for commercial purposes (i.e. advertising) without obtaining a model release of any "recognizable" person in the image. They can however be used in artistic shots and be sold as Art.

    For example....this is not illegal:

It's that second head that interests them so much.

Didn't think there was anything illegal about it - i was just amused that anyone would want to take my photo! There are lots of western tourists in Beijing, right?

Everyone tried to take photos of my mum and dad in Beijing! We had no idea why.

When our kids were born, being 'mixed race', in Singers, HK, China & Thai we had locals - mostly teenagers, wanting to have photies with our kids.
    Whatever.

Which is fine, except that the MTR is not a public place - it is the private premises of a company whose services you wish to make use of, and whose rules you have to obey.

Which is completely true. However, MTR does not explicitly prohibit photography on their property or in their stations.

We were following a micro-skirt wearing woman up the escalator when one of my darling daughters announced in a very loud voice:

"yuk, you can see that woman's pants" and pointed them out just in case no one had noticed. Horrible legs too.
