    "Beware of illegal photo taking"

The sign in MTR stations - what does it mean? Is it just a bad translation and they actually mean it's illegal to take photos in the MTR?

In the US, that would mean be on the lookout for scary, brown people taking photos of anything that a paranoid person could imagine being blown up. In HK, it means be on the lookout for perverts taking upskirt shots on escalators. At least that's my interpretation.

I would also assume it is related to the upskirt shots!!

The MTR should use a much larger sign:

"Beware of sad perverted bastards who can't get it up without the thrill of taking a photo up a young woman's skirt then sharing it with other similar sad bastards."

so, upskirts and sad bastards aside, it is deemed sad bastardry to take candid shots of people on the MTR?? sometimes i see someone sitting in such a way it would make a great portrait, yet, fear of being looked at as some sort of perve has always kept the camera in the bag... and the fact it's a chunky SLR with a big schlong... i mean lens...

    It translates.....

"Beware of the sexually deprived nerdy dorks, who cannot get laid without payment nor afford uncensored porn, and thus rely on their discreet high tech gadgetry to attempt to get a glimpse of the female genitalia which they have not seen since birth."

As you can see....too long to fit on the sign.

When we were in Beijing I'm sure people were taking candid photos of us in the subway. They got their friend to stand in front of us and pretended to be taking a photo of their friend. In Tianenmen Sqaure they just asked if they could take a photo!
