    Cash withdrawal at the supermarkets...

The other day the lady in front of me appeared to pay for her groceries using her ATM card, but also appeared to withdraw cash at the same time. Can you do that in Hong Kong and is it only at ParkNShop or do other grocery stores offer the same kind of cash withdrawal service. If that is the case, I never need to hunt for an atm machine again.....

yeah...both ParkN'Shop and Welcome offer this service.

They allow you to use the EPS facility to in-effect pay a 'bill' for the amount you want to withdraw.

Its useful if you dont have an ATM around. I know for a fact that there is not a single HSBC / Hang Seng ATM machine on Park Island (Ma Wan), so a friend who stays there often resorts to this option.

If you use your Octopus at Wellcome, your bill will be a bit longer as you will get something called Octopus Rewards.

I recently looked at a bill and it had a balance entry, meaning that a record is kept somewhere of your wherabouts.

    Very creepy!
