Does anyone know what the deal is with bringing dvds back from Shenzhen to Hong Kong?

I think it's a 1000 HKD fine for each DVD, if you are caught. (I'm assuming you mean pirated discs)
And, have also heard that caucasians don't often get stopped. For ABC's CBC's and HK's it's a different story.
Still, I wouldn't take the risk...I prefer to buy original discs, most pirate discs I've bought have been shoddy
1000HKD a disc? Jeez - doesnt sound worth it!
Exactly! I've heard stories about people having to pay up 15 or 20 K just to pay off the fines.
Don't want to ruffle any feathers here, but the asiaxpat website has lots of info on the Shenzhen DVD thing. Hope it helps
LOL @ discobay!
also, the pirated stuff in china not free, it's CHEAP, but here you can get legit VCDs for 1/3 the price of a DVD. Granted it's not great quality, but what pirated dvd is? lol
You should go out more. Seriously though, there is a place on Shang Tyng Street in Mong Kok where you go up a small escalator. There are a few floors that have mostly sell porn but a couple of them sell hollywood movies. I think it's called Cyber City. Then there's Mong Kok computer centre which has one or two shops. Golden Arcade shopping centre in Sham Shui Po has a few. The list is endless. Some get raided and close down for a couple of weeks. Ofcourse, this is all second hand information to me.Originally Posted by caroline13:
Real pirate DVD heaven is Guangzhou. 5 bucks per disc. And they have everything. And I do mean everything.
Any decent pirated dvds (oxymoron i know) available on HK island, or do we have to go out to Kowloon?
