Red Eyes - Western Medicine Can't Help

    Hello,

For the last 3 years I have problems with my eyes. It started soon after I moved to HK. Little by little my eyes became red and I started feeling pain. Now I am used to feel the pain all the time.

I went to eye doctors, to hospitals, to regular practioners - noone could help. All the doctors I went to see said something like "Don't worry, it is all because of pollution" or "Don't worry, you don't need glasses" or "Don't worry, this is allergy" and all the medicines they gave worked for not more than 1 day.

I want to try Chinese traditional medicine but I do not know anything about it. Can anyone suggest a good-quality specialist who can really help apart from charging gweilo?

    Thank you in advance.

You've probably got conjunctivitis and you should see a Dr., get the diagnosis confirmed and get the drops which will cure it in a few days.

I think you need moisturizing dropps with some steroid in them to decrease the inflamation. And if you do have allergies, may be an oral antihistamine. Sorry, I do not know anything about chineese remedies. Hope you feel bette soon!

Ha ha too true -we are talking about eyes here so be kind of careful about what you put in them and the Chinese med eye drops are no exception

and dont ever use steroids except under strict medical (western )supervision

best guess for the op is dry eyes (ie not enough tears to keep the eyes moist)and or overuse of contacts

you need to find an artificial tears eye drop that works for you and use it often along with a lubricating ointment in the eyes at night-after a month should start to get an improvemnt -less red and itchy
