I have clothes and shoes that I don't use (some brand new and still with tags on). I'm sure someone would be able to use them. Anyone know where I can donate them?
I'd like somewhere that isn't associated with a church or religion if possible.

i'm also interested in knowing where to donate anything....i think it doesnt matter religion or church...the main purpose is to recycle your unused items and trying to help others that do need it...i dont think these organizations try to profit from this..
Donate shoes and clothes to Oxfam
They have shops in Central and Causeway Bay.
Christian Action Network
They work at Chungking Mansion and help HK`s refugees. They do really good work and take a lot of stuff.
Doesn't quite meet the OP's requirement of "I'd like somewhere that isn't associated with a church or religion if possible." though does it.
I sympathise with the OP - it is really quite hard to be charitable here without supporting the god delusionists. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
My default at the moment is to send stuff back to The Philippines via my wife or my helper - they can always find a good home for stuff there.
Can you stop being a %$&#-disturber smart-ass for a minute? Like you have nothing better to do with your time than peruse geoexpat forums and dissect people`s posts. So irritating.
The OP can take from the suggestions what he/she wants. The org I suggested helps refugees in general, regardless of THEIR religious affiliation.
You should also be mindful of sending things to the Philippines, lest they go to one of those God delusionists.
Ass.
My building has a big purple bin in the common area where you can donate clothing. I cant remember the name of the charity or organisation printed on the side.
are there any bins or donation org in shatin? i cant imagine lugging a big bag across town.
There is NO Goodwill or other non-religious charities in HK? Are there any 2nd hand stores in HK at all or do Chinese have hangup over used clothings?
Maybe in really poor areas - but nothing like as popular as in western countries and I have been told that yes, it is because the chinese have hangups over used clothing.
When I tried looking for second hand "stuff" rather than bringing over all our stuff, I found it incredibly lacking here - unlike NZ where there is an incredibly active online auction site called TradeMe which sells pretty much anything you could possibly want to sell secondhand (I sold half-used cosmetics; clothing; furniture; shoes; outdoor gear; kitchenwear; pieces of carpet; plants; books; CD's; Cathay pacific washbags; a car and a greenhouse on trademe .... there was pretty much nothing you could not buy/sell). Never found anything like that here.
