    Dialing Australia

    I am trying to call Melbourne, Australia, and it doesn't seem to work.

    The person there cannot call me either. I am using People's IDD card..

    It rings.. but noyone picks up?? How do you dial Australia?

    I use +863<number>
    The number starts with a 0, but I've tried with and without it, and it doesn't seem to work.

    It's a cellphone in Australia.

    Edit: I've also tried 001 or 0011 instead of the '+' sign.

    You should use +613, not +863

    61 = Aus
    3 = Melbourne

    Or better yet, use skype.

    Moreover, you will be charged a very high rate if you use "+613...". You need to get some sort of IDD service, and you should be able to get down to around HK$0.2-0.3/minute.

    A cellphone is australia will be something like 0408 345 678 in which case the international number is +61 408 345 678 (ie no area code and no zero). Replace "+" with whatever your phone service is.
