    Mainland (PRC) Amahs?

I seem to recall reading some newspaper clippings about a proposed change to the domestic helper law to allow certain PRC Nationals to enter Hong Kong and work as amahs? I'm just not sure what became of that legislation. Did it pass, is it under review--what's the status?

(We have a PRC passport/US green card nanny here in the USA that we would like to bring with us to HK but I don't think she can get a visa to stay).

Nothing's changed that I am aware of.

But note that it is possible in principle for nannies to get Employment Visas in Hong Kong, and with a US Green Card that could be under the General Employment Policy, not the "mainlanders" one. But I believe it does require that the nannies have some formal qualifications - I believe there is quite a difference as far as ImmD is concerned between a formally-qualified nanny and a generic FDH. Nannies are solely for the purpose of bringing up kids - you'd need a DH to do the housework.
