    Dom Helper Question....

I am looking to employ a full time helper soon and would like to be able to transfer the contract rather than the helper return to the Phillipines for visa processing, please can anyone clarify under what circumstances can this be done.....I am most confused as have received varying info.

    Thanks!

    Suzie,

If you hire a helper who has completed her contract immigration will extend her visa for a year. So you'll need to send her home after a year. I think terminated helpers have to go home.

Not quite sure.Processing for a helper that has to go home is 4-6 weeks so I guess it should be less. Once you receive the case # from immigration you can fax/call them to speed it up.

    costs of DH employment???

Have read through the info from the govt. site but no help......

Please could someone clarify what my costs are, as an employer when signing on a new DH contract.

I have just meet someone I might like to employ, however she mentioned the agency fee of around $3k for processing etc? First I had heard! Is it necessary to use an agency.

What other costs are associated, aside form the one way ticket back to HK??

    Suzie,

Did you find her through an agency? If yes, then you need to pay the agency fee. If not, all you need to pay is for the visa/consulate processing which is a few hundred. And there is new gov't levy which is $9600. You can pay this at one time or in 4 installments.
