    Laundry Sheung Wan

    Hi

Can anyone please recommend a good laundry shop in Sheung Wan? I prefer to drop the laundry off and collect the same evening.

I have tried the following places and had bad experiences:

Kents - great price, service and quality but I am extremely allergic to their washing powder!

Possession St - efficient and good price but clothes do not feel clean and often come back in a bad condition

Queens Road West (small blue and white place on the corner)- terrible service, expensive, lost and ruined clothes and I even had to rummage through someone else's laundry to identify my pieces!

Or if anyone knows of a place where you can do your own laundry (self service) I would be really grateful - although I am not sure this even exists in HK?

    Thanks so much

For washing, dry and fold style laundry try:

    Lai Sun Laundry
Shop F, No. 1, Tai Ping Shan Street
    Sheung Wan
(shop front actually on Square Street)
    2975 8131

I have used them for years.

Is that the one opposite Rich View Terrace? I don't remember the name, but if it is I used to use it too and was also really happy with it. They also used to deliver the laundry to flats in in Rich View Terrace for no extra charge.

Since moving, for the past couple of years I've used one (again, don't remember the name...) which is just off Hollywood Rd on the street in between Po Yan St and Upper Station St. Also great service and can be done the same day.

Yes, just across from Rich View Terrace, the owner Raymond seems to have a really good memory for his clients.

When we were staying at the Island Pacific Hotel, we used a laundry around the corner from the hotel on the same block (toward Central). It was something like $21/7 lbs. $2.50(?)/lb thereafter. Our laundry was ready for p/u in several hours. Nicely folded and packaged.

Island Pacific's official address was Sheung Wan, but someone said it was in Sai Ling Pon, so I don't know if it is close to where you live.

I think Arkay you mean Pound Lane and I just used him (On Kee Laundry) last week and found he was good but didn't really dislike the Possession Street laundry (Empress). He is between Tai Ping Shan and Hollywood - short distance and just around the corner from Possession laundry.

The other poster mentioned the Possession Street laundry and I have been going there since July. They too deliver apparently but I want my stuff back same day! I see that nice lady delivering to my building. What I don't like about Possession (across from Central Park Hotel) is that they leave the finished stuff on the street. I hate that!

On Kee - that's the one! Used him for two and a half years with no problems at all.

Have just moved to Kennedy Town and am nowhere near as happy with the laundry closest to me as I was with On Kee. Top ruined the second time I went there. And never ready on the same day. Will need to find some place else.

Do NOT use Perfect Laundry in Central/Sheung Wan

Poor service and very rude owner who refuses service at whim. They lie about turnaround times to gain service, don't deliver and don't even apologize! I have found missing items twice. There are plenty of other laundry services in the area that are fair to good, so no need to even bother with this guy who has a bad attitude and provides terrible service.
