Me too! I think the weather alone for 6 months of the year is enough to get anyone down. I also regret not coming to HK long before I did.

I used to drive to work in West London until some idiot with a 4 x 4 with huge bull bars on the front rear-ended me and totalled my car. The insurance claim took about a year to settle and it took 12 months for me to get a pay out and purchase a new car.

Traveling from south London to West London every morning was a very depressing experience not to mention a very expensive one. On two occasions I was almost mugged by low-life when coming out of stations late at night. I feel much safer in HK.

Am going back to London and Birmingham in May on business. I'll have been here almost 4 years by then and I'll be interested to know how I feel about the UK during and after the trip. I am either going to feel slightly misty-eyed and nostalgic about the place and consider a return from exile or I am going to feel totally vindicated at my decision to leave and will decide to stay in HK to get my PR. Important trip back to Blighty coming up.

It does concern me that when I speak to my father in London every week he tells me not to bother coming back to UK other than on business trips or visits as the country is in such a mess.

i totally agree with you- i find the tube history absolutely fascinating! which is why i don't understand why they need to shut the jubilee line almost every weekend... whereas the oldest lines such as the bakerloo & the metropolitan don't seem to have such problem

tube is utterly disgusting and they never bother cleaning it which is worst! when i was sitting inside the last carriage of the metropolitan line at the baker street station, waiting for the train to depart, 2 white anglo-saxon men started urinating on the tube seats...

fyi it was an early evening on a saturday in mid-Jan 10 and loads of people walked past the train

your dad is absolutely right. the MP are all retards. i don't see the UK getting better in every sense in the immediate future. just stay and get a PR here.

and yes pls do share your view after your visit to the UK!

besides hiking, i would suggest jogging. just go for a run for an hour. completely shut off your mind. just listening to your favourite mp3 or even your heart beat.
    the best way for me!

you are only a student now. do try to enjoy the moment when still in uni. after u graduate, not much luxury time.... n it's where u hv the real stress. worse than what u facing in study.
