1 Day home rental for a movie

We found an unsolicited request in our mailbox recently where a movie company with a famous director wanted to rent our apartment for a day, to film a scene for a movie.

I was curious and contacted them. They came over twice to look over the place and take a lot of pictures. They are coming back next week, with the famous director, for a final look before they make final decision.

First thing in my mind was : "They are checking us out to rob us later"...After talking to them few times(phone and in person), my mind is at rest - I think these guys are pretty legit about the movie angle.

The only thing left is the price. They have offered us $10,000 HKD for 1 day of filming at our place. We live in a 1600sqft apartment overlooking the race track.

Is this a reasonable fee? Should we ask for more?

    HC

I knew a guy who did that with his place. The price was $10K but that was a few (5+) years ago. And check how long you have to be out of the place, 1 day filming is a long day as it includes time to set up and dismantle equipment.

I would definitely ask for more. It's a serious inconvenience and who knows what kind of damage they might do.

I'd want someone there to oversee them so you may have to pay for that, maybe two nights at the hotel, meals, clean up afterwards. No way I would do it for less than 15K, more like 20K. Unless you need the money of course...

I had a friend in Tin Hau that rented out her place often. Not sure what the rate was. Sorry.

I think 10k is pretty decent to earn just for 1 day you being out of the apartment and doing nothing.I wouldnt complain
