Tell me something DIFFERENT to do in Macau!!

Ok, heading off to Macau this weekend. Again. Have seen the casinos. Have seen the old church runs. Have eaten at Fernandos and Literal. Have done the egg tarts, including at Lord Stow's. Have go-karted, bungy-jumped, and fisherman's wharfed.

    Need something new.

Any suggestions? If anyone has recommendations for places to visit which are really worth the effort, and offer something you just can't get in HK or the Venetian........................ would be very much appreciated!

Can be a cool cafe/landmark/show/touristy thing - whatever. Just something different to freshen up on the usual Macau visit stuff.

    Many thanks in advance!

there's a smallish hotel on coloane on the way between the kart track and fernandos. it's in a bay and really off track (sorry forgot the name). i thought it was quite funny to stay there once.

nearby (closer to the kart track from there) is a small village as well. nothing fancy but still quite peaceful (and can see some Zhuhai suburbs from there which makes for a nice thought if you beam yourself back 30 years)

Do one of the walking tours.

    Go dog racing.

Eat in Nga Tim in Coloane Village, or O Santos in Taipa Village.

The hotel is probably Pousada de Coloane. I think the village is Coloane Village.

Or it may be Cheoc Van (Chuk Wan).

You could hike up to the highest point of Coloane, where there's a giant Tin Hau statue and a big new temple.

Pousada de Coloane (above Cheok Van / )竹灣) is definitely worth an overnight, or at least a meal, as is Pousada de Mong Ha.
The walk along the coast between Coloane village and Hac Sa beach (the first section is along sealed but very quiet road, from Cheok Van to Hac Sa it is a "real" trail).
Paddle-boating on the reservoir above Hac Sa.
Museum of Macau & Maritime Museum (and any of the other specialist ones that take your interest).
Watching the lights come on in Zhuhai from the coastal promenade between the main reservoir and Iao Hon.
Guia Fort, tunnels, and the jogging trail around it.
Camoes / Lou Lim Ieoc Gardens.
Double-boiled milk puddings, French toast, banana smoothies & other light snacks at Leitaria I Son.
Check out the restaurants / cafes in the alley just up one side of McDonalds in Senado Square.

What else is there to do in Macau besides casinos and family stuff? Well, that answer depends on if you have any morals or not.

If you have more money, you also have poussada de Sao Tiago:
Pousada De So Tiago - Home

Poussada de Coloane is nice too...it is in Cheoc Wan beach a few minutes after Coloane village where you can have a nice meal a Space Lisboa or Nha Tim

Macao is a city full of treasures...VERY often totally unknown and overlooked by the HK day traveller (who only and sadly focus thier energy on the casino thingy)
