Help - dog chewed table - wood repair?

Hi, my husband has a rosewood coffee table that he adores and that my dog gnawed the corner off today. It really is bad but rather than throw the whole thing away I am wondering whether it could be fixed - say by constructing new corners (plastic or wood) to stick on them? Or is that a stupid/impossible idea? Any thoughts?

cut it, give it a sand... and paint it over

Surprisingly, I agree with apple&dog. It may never be quite the same again, but if you get it professionally sanded off and polished up, it may look acceptable and become a 'feature' of the table .... probably better than trying to paste something artificial on the wood that may never look quite right.

It will be corner-less though - but just on one corner. Either that or I get rid of all the corners.... possibly right about artificial things looking worse.
