    Part Time Domestic Helper

Is there such thing as a part time domestic helper (English speaking of course)? Although it is very cheap to get a Philipino helper, the wife and I are struggling to take the plunge because we are not too crazy about having yet another person living with us.

Also, do people get baby sitters here if they don't have a domestic helper?

Sorry if this has already been posted.

    Hello!

The geobaby website has some info on babysitting services. I seem to remember a thread in mid-December that discused the pro and cons of using the babysitting companies, but haven't been able to relocate it. Someone was looking for a babysitter over the holidays, perhaps Western New Year's night.

I found that thread on Geobaby, must have spelled something wrong yesterday.

It is under "Everything Else", page 2, from 13 December, in case the below doesn't work:

    Part Time Helper

It is illegal to have a Filipina Part Time helper - (legally you can only have a local girl/woman)

A condition of their work permit is that they work exclusively for their sponsor

Now you know and if this is not an issue for you - ask any other domestic helper you meet if she knows someone who is looking for "part time"

You can also look at the notice boards in Park and Shop or Welcome - they sometimes have phone numbers to contact !!

It is done all the time - suggest that you try t o get a girl who is already in yuor appartment building - makes it easier and she can always claim she was just visiting !!
