I'm looking into getting a global health insruance plan and have been looking into a couple of providers. I was approached by such a group called IMG, they're charging around US1,300 a year for their basic medical plan - full cover for most in-patient and out-patient treatment and up to US$5M lifetime maximum. Is this a reasonable deal? Any other suggestion?

The devil is usually in the details. I'm assuming you've compared with the plans from WIlliam Russell and Goodhealth?

As Shri said, look at the details. $5 million as a life time cover may sound a lot now but when you are older and have made some claims this figure may not be sufficient. Look for a plan with annual cover, most offer at least $1 million annual cover which will probably be increased in the future.

We evaluated a bunch of different ones, and shortlisted William Russell and Interglobal, but ultimately chose Interglobal for its higher coverage levels.
