    The Da Vinci code

I know it's been out for a while but i've never got around to reading it until recently. I found it.....breath taking. I've never read a thriller before and maybe that's why i couldn't put the book down after picking it up.

I would like to know some of your opinions of the book. I'm not religious myself so i was not in the least prejudiced or offended by the religious content. In fact, i found everything in the book plausible. Any Christians out there who enjoyed the book? Anyone (not religious) people disliked the book?

I fear Tom Hanks will star in it. Too bad Harrison Ford had to go and get old..

Digital Fortress is possibly one of the worst books ever written!

Yup, Tom Hanks will spoil the movie completely- I'm glad I read the book before I knew that because seeing his face whilst reading it would have spoilt it completely! And is Jean Reno the only male in France who can act? He is Bezu Fache. Audrey Tautou is playing Sophie but she is very young and the thought of her and Tom Hanks is gross- as if it would happen in real life! Bill Paxton was first choice, then Russell Crowe, either would have been better.

I'm with Letxyz! Angels and Demons (which i thankfully read first) is by far the better book and made the DaVinci code a little bit of a let down. Oh except the last 50 pages of Angels and Demons ARGHHHHHHH, what a total "Whoops i've written a great book and now i need to finish it quick!" let down!

Regarding the exciting content, its absolute hogwash in terms of acurate historical facts and modern day ones at that. For an example, just go to Opus Dei's website and see that their just normal people (married, single, multicultural, catholics) and dedicated to helping others. NOT Albino, masochistic, murdering zealots!

Oh, and i've been lucky enough to go to Milan, the paints falling off but it ain't no woman.

    Anyone else's opinion?

I'm no historian so regarding any of the historical facts i have no idea whether they're true of false. Being an ignorant person, I found that the beauty of the book is that everything written in it is possible and Dan Brown simply allows us to look at things from a point of view we have never considered before. I mean, i've always thought that the Holy Grail was the cup Jesus drank out of and i've never considered that it could be anything else. In addition, the whole Mary thing and her appearance in 'the last supper' is also plausible as the person in the drawing has long hair and no one can say for definite that that person is a male or a female.

Oh, and do you really think Opus Dei would advertise themselves as murdering Zealots on their website?

What Dan Brown claims are facts are wrong, as pointed out by many good online commentaries.

But isn't that what some historian facts are like? As i remember from my History lessons a long time ago, there are always both sides of the same story with some sources claiming one thing and other sources claiming another.

I personally do not care whether the book is pure fiction, fiction/truth mixed together or 'based on a true story' but for those who do, there are books about the Da Vinci code out there, which get into heated arguments about the subject of truth vs. fiction. I agree with ksrnf, the reason I enjoyed the book is
