I've asked this question and the answer is you need to pay for a complete set. I know it is ridiculous and I backed off as soon as I heard it. Cable TV would only charge you for the rental of the additional box not for the channels.

With their acceptable to vcd quality video and recently choppy audio problems I can't see myself paying any more to them than I do currently.

I record a lot of cartoons for my son so imagine what it's like when he gets home to watch the recordings. Who gets blamed - not PCCW no it's dad's fault ofcourse.

I've complained twice already and on the second time they replaced the box but admitted that it's a software issue and not a network problem (so what!) as he was responsible for the network. If it was a virus you could understand them being vague as to a resolution date but it seems to have been self-introduced and they're struggling to cope.

I am very very upset to know all this! I wish PCCW 'gets there faster'!

So is everyone having the choppy audio problems? I hear it (or rather dont hear it, the silence in the midst of dialogue being the problem) on both my TVs, connected to two separate boxes. Happens almost every day.

I called PCCW but they say no other complaints from others about this.

I too get the choppy Audio, seems they are doing the old "No other customers complain about this" trick.
Laughing Monkey:- I tried to use a wireless bridge (Two routers configured as a single wire) to get NOW TV in my bedroom, the wife was complaining about a great big long Ethernet cable. I also tried Ethernet over mains sockets. They both failed to work for no aparant reason. It seems that there is built in Encryption that fails to work if there is too much delay from the modem to the decoder! Seems the only way would be with a TV sender.
I have lost faith in NOW, and at the end of my contract will be downgrading to just a couple of news channels, everything else comes from Bittorrent.

I just got Now a few days ago. It worked fine at first, then choppy, now I can't even get a signal. I called to ask for it to be fixed and they ran some kind of test, said it was fine at their end (duh!) but the signal wasn't reaching my machine properly (DUH!). As well as providing services in statement of the obvious, they're also sending a guy around this arvo to look at my connection.

I bet it's working fine again by the time he gets here, then crap again after he goes.

    HI MaxWonga

Can you tell me a bit more abou the AV Transmitters such as where to buy them and are they any good?

I recently came across one when back in Britain. I want to share the tv signal from the flat next door to mine but I am not sure it will work through the walls. I installed a wireless router and I can detect a signal in the other flat but not strong enough to use. My guess is this system will have the same abilities.

    Thanks

Without wanting to further my slightly off topic rant, I must report that the technician fiddled with some wiring and the TV reception is now "good as new"!

He also told me that there was a less major problem hong kong wide and that the company was working on it.
