Help! Where to buy Noise-blocking earmuffs?

I've recently moved to HK and found this site an indispensible source of info. But I've finally found a topic where the answer wasn't already there.

I'm in the middle of a huge work project and they are doing the infamous Hong Kong concrete wall removal renovations int he flat below me. The noise is deafening and it shakes the whole place. And goes from 9-7 everyday. I can't work remotely so I have to do something.

I need to but those heavy-duty earmuff that construction and shooting guys wear (not noise cancelling headphones for ambient noise). Anyone know where I can find a pair? They're $20 on amazon, I just can't wait a week for shipping!

They are available from some hardware stores. Hardware stores in HK tend to be a bit mom-and-pop and geared towards construction workers, so your best bet is probably in Ap Lui Street in Sham Shui Po. There are hardware stores all along it- walk into those and you should be able to find both the earmuffs style protectors and the foam inserts that you roll up and stick in your ears. Using both at the same time would probably work.

You can also get the foam plugs in pharmacies- try Watsons.

Thomson Road by Wan Chai MTR has several hardware stores, they might also carry this stuff.

Oh, it might help to print out a photo of ear protectors in case you have trouble getting the message across.

Not sure where to get those but all they do is cut the strength in the sound - they don't cut out the sound entirely and not even close. They certainly protect shooters and workers in high decibel areas from deafness but it is not silence that you hear. Just cut down noise.
