You either need to go to one of the main departments stores, or look for the speciality shops in places like Fa Yuen Street in Mongkok. Sure that there are places like that HK side as well.

Don't know if you've tried IKEA in Causeway Bay. You can buy very basic curtains and bars/hooks there for a decent price. See their on-line catalogue on IKEA website:

On HK Island there are loads of shops along Queen's Road East near the Hopewell Centre that sell curtains and accessories. I don't understand why this is difficult...

...and they often have records of the window measurements for the major apartment blocks. So you just go in, pick the material and ask for the price. They then come round to double check the measurements (if necessary) and they have your curtains made up and installed within a few days - 3 days to be precise for us. Wing Shing on QRE was the place we used.

or if you want to do it near Central, Wai Kee Curtain and Furnishing co were the cheapest I found (didn't look very hard though) G/F 105 Wellington St ph 2522 3605. They came and measured on a sat and installed two days later. Very easy to deal with. Ask for Peggy. Do understand your curtain woes though, it's a pain to organise when you are working 12 hour days

If you don't mind going to Shenzhen, you can just go there to have them made. Just take all of your window dimensions with you. They can deliver to your place a few days later. There are a few hassels though:

    1. Going to Shenzhen.
    2. A little harder to communicate, but do-able.
    3. Negotiating the price.

I think the hassels are worth it, because you can get the same thing done much cheaper in Shenzhen

I looked quite extensively in central and wanchai, and the cheapest place was right around the corner from me on Belcher St in Kennedy Town - Sin Lai Curtains. Ask for Fanny, who speaks good English, and tell her Karen sent you!
