    Propolis

Sorry, but I have a stupid question concerning propolis. I remember buying a piece of honey comb some years ago. The top layer should be propolis, but it looked and felt like wax to me. I was afraid of eating wax in case it stayed in my stomach. So I chewed a bit every time and spitted the rest, which was chewy in texture. Is it the most precious part, propolis, that I spitted? Thanks.

    yes it is.
it is a very precious part.
Chewing propolis is good against the sore throat, for instance.
    Has bactericidal nature

Thanks, pilgrim. But do I just chew it and then spit it, or can I swallow it?

Colgate has a propolis toothpaste and if you go upmarket you can get some heavy duty propolis toothpaste from health food stores.

How the propolis help to clean your teeth. By the way, natural propolis does contain quite significant wax element, which if you take it everyday, you may consum quite a bit of the wax.

Thanks very much, Gracec. That's exactly my concern. But there are propolis capsules on the market, so I'm wondering if it's edible?
