contest speeding ticket, postpone traffic court date?

Has anyone contested a speeding ticket here? I did, pleaded non-guilty, and now I cannot go for a trial on the date assigned. Any tips so I don't get arrested?

I really can't think of any grounds short of hospitalization that would mean you "cannot" attend court. What is it that you think is more important than going to court? Having elected for trial you really don't have much of a case if you then want to say "oh sorry, too busy".

And for that matter, if you were caught on a speed camera or speed gun, what possible grounds do you have for being not guilty?

wow contesting a ticket, GOOD LUCK, how did you get caught speeding, was it by a copper on a bike or roadblock or by a stationary camera.

Actually the speeding limit on the road I got caught on by speed camera in Pokfulam is in dispute. On the books it is 70 and despite having no signs in one direction the police claim it is 50. This has been written up in the papers. There is a good legal argument that I am not guilty.

I cannot be at the court because I have to present at a Board of Directors meeting of a publicly traded company and if I don't may lose my job. It's s difficult situation to be in.

I am wondering if anyone has ever been in this position. Moralizing doesn't help me! I have a right to plead my case but the court system is stacked against me, not even giving me the chance to just revert and pay a fine.

I have contested unfair speeding tickets in the U.S. before and won.

It's good to have a hobby, I guess.

Difficult to see how your employer could sack you for complying with a court summons.

I've had to present to Board of Directors before and been unable to attend - I sent a subordinate. It's not exactly hard.

Hey did you get caught near Chi Fu? I got caught going 65 in a 50 zone. Apparently the 70 zone starts a block ahead at the traffic light.
You're right there aren't any signs there.

If you have been caught on PFL road after the victoria road lights towards Kennedy town, then its a 50. I got caught myself, the 50 sign is near the lights for the cyberport turning, but then there is nothing.

Not sure where i read this but cant be arsed to look for it, any single lane road that you drive on, if you cant see a speed limit sign then you are to assume it is 50 automatically. anyone else heard of this.
