Perhaps the govt can do with the rat as they've done with the trees?

Each rat can receive an identification number, printed on a bright yellow tag in numeric and also in Braille form that can then be affixed somehow to the rat itself.

A series of PSAs can be run on television explaining that rats are an integral part of a vibrant and harmonious Hong Kong but that some rats are dangerous and must be dealt with by government specialists.

It's worked well with trees. Why not do the same for rats?

There was a dead rat lying in the middle of Cochrane street under the escalator last night. They're everywhere in HK.

i read once, years ago, that there are more rats in hk than people...that wouldn't surprise me.

with the wetmarkets, fruit & veg stalls, insufficient rubbish bins and close living quarters of much of HK, i would be very surprised if it WASN'T the case.

Cochrane Street under the escalator... gateway into Hong Kong for all things rabid.

It's certainly not a new problem for HK. Check out Henry Arthur Blake, the 'most ridiculous governor' of HK, and his solution to the rat attacks!

    RATS!

There are generally more rats then people in any location you care to mention, so the opinion that 'Rat bites Bird' would somehow besmirch HK's rep as a 'destination' is hilarious.
If you haven't seen a rat in the last month, then you need to get out more.
