Work visa expiring -- how to change to dependent visa?

Hello. I have quit my job and my last day of work is June 30th. After this, I assume my work visa expires (or do I have 30 days?). Anyways, I'm engaged and fiance thought it would be good for us to get registered for various reasons (health benefits, etc.). This means that I can now get a dependent visa -- which could be very helpful for new job search. So I really just have a question on what is the best process/timing for getting married legally, applying for dependent visa, etc.

I am traveling back home to U.S. until mid-July and will be job hunting all of August. What is my best course of action in terms of timing?

    Thanks!

Your employment Visa is valid for you to reside here until whatever its expiry date is. That does not change because you lose your job. You can come and go and job hunt freely until that expiry date, but you cannot start working for any new employer until a transfer of sponsorship has been approved by ImmD.

If you want to marry, better marry before you leave Hk. And as soon as you get your marriage certificate, go to Immigration to apply as dependent. And from there, you will know and decide the next step.
