Work visa / HK ID card

    Hi,

I live in Shenzhen and come to Hong Kong everyday.

I should (hopefully) be getting my work visa in approx three weeks. Since I then will not be comming to Hong Kong as a tourist but as a worker does that mean that I will need to apply for a HK ID card?.

I've heard that this is true.

    Cheers

You should apply for a HK ID card as soon as you get your work visa. It makes travelling more easy too as you can go through the HK resident channel at immigration (at the HK side only) which tends to be quicker.

    Cheers HKfella and elle,

elle, Yes I've seen that at the HK immigration. Many many time have I been waiting in a long line of people only to get to the front and hand over my passport when the officials open the barrier separating visitors and HK residents and let everyone behind me go straight to the front of the HK residents section.

Nevermind, what are you going to do?, laugh or cry?

Normally for me it's a bit of both.
