Time Limit on Getting HKID after Visa?

    Hello,
My boss just gave me a sticker that says good for single journey to HK before dec 16 - employment 12 months. She said i need to leave HK and come back, get that sticker stamped and then go apply for a HKID. Is there a time limit as to how long I have to get that HKID after I get that sticker stamped? Is there a time limit as to how soon I need to get the sticker stamped and leave the country? The sticker was issued 9/16 and says employment 12 months.

    THANKS

Well the visa is not activated until you leave and come back and you must do that before Dec 16 otherwise it becomes invalid. A trip to Shenzhen or Macau does the trick. For ID best do as soon as possible afterwards.

For the ID card, you must register for it within 30 days of arrival.

Moreover, it is illegal for you to start work for your boss until you have left HK, and re-entered using the Visa.

Thank you. 30 days after re-entry, right?

Yes - you must apply for the HKID within 30 days of entering using a visa entitling you to reside for more than 180 days. GovHK: Applications by People Aged 18 or Over
