How did it go?
How did it go?
i will be getting my hksar passport very soon and would like to apply for the HRP card (am a "***" id card holder) for ease of traveling to china..what do i need to bring and how much would it cost.which branch should i go to and how long will it take?any details and suggestions/advices would be great!
You just need your HK passport and your HKID card. You will have to go to China Travel Services (CTS) It does not matter which CTS you go. You will need 1 or 2 (I don't remember) pictures of yourself (I forgot the size) but there's a self photo machine at the CTS. I got this 2 years ago for $380 HK plus some fees which cost me little bit more than $400, but it might cost a little more now. It takes 10 business days to get it, but you can expedite it in 5 business days for $200 HK more. I expedite this, I applied on Monday and got it on Friday or Saturday (I don't remember the day). Hope this helps.

so let get this straight, not born in HK, *** AO status, 7 years in hk and without any compromise on foreign passport, but eligible for hk passport thus home return pass, can anyone confirm this?
The 7 years in HK is irrelevant. If you are *** and hold (not just are eligible for) a HK passport then you can get an HRP.
In addition to HKSAR passport and HKPIC, depending on your age and your place of birth, you may be required to show CTS your HK birth cert, the travel document you used when you entered HK, the travel document you held when you acquired ROA, PRC passport, PRC household registration records, etc, if applicable.
Ended up being told to fill in a form at the office detailing all my exits and entries to HK over the course of 7 years. They asked to see every single passport I've entered HK on, plus HK education records. I only had documentation of my first entry and start of residency in HK in the 80's.
They photocopied all my passports which were sent to the Guangdong PSB for approval (this was in January) and I wasn't approved for the HRP until April. They've given me 6 months in which to apply for an HRP, which I have yet to do. I'm currently in the mainland on my overseas passport.
My HK-born sister came with me the same day to get her HRP and received it in 5 days. Sheesh.
Wow, didn't know that it was such a pain if you are not born in HK comparing that you are born somewhere else outside china.
good stuff itsblitz, thanks for sharing
