Picking up ID card

My HKID was stolen recently. I'm due to pick up my new ID on Friday, does anyone know if I need my passport to do this, or if the temporary ID is enough?

The reason being I urgently need to renew my passport but can't afford to lose another 2 days before I apply.

As I mentioned in your other post. The HKID card is a Hong Kong identity card and has nothing with do with your foreign passport.

Thanks, I just wondered if they required additional ID, I needed my passport for the original application.

When you think about it the ID card has you photo on it. So if they are blind or just plain careless then you don't even need to take any ID.

When I picked up my HKID they scanned my thumb to check it was working and I guess to also check my identity. I don't remember needing to take my passport along to collect my ID card.

Just want to ask,if the owner of the id cannot pick up from the immigration,is it allow if sister or friend will pick up with the supporting leetter from the owner.

You must complete this form and give it to your representative for them to collect the card: Authorisation for Collection of Identity Card

hand in the temp paper id card, scan thumb and your good to go.
