Past Employer references for Work Visa

Just took a look at the Work Visa application. One section regarding past employment seems rather excessive. Do I really have to get documentation proof for every job I've put on the list? I've been working 21 years in about 8 companies, some have gone bust, some are real stupid about giving references requiring Immigration to write to them for it

Can I get away with references for the last few jobs?

Just collect as many references you can to prove your experiences and all that good stuff. Make sure you have a fair little stack of references to help you out, but you won't be denied only for missing a reference or two.

i didn't prepare my own work visa application, but i was never asked for that information. i was internally transferred from our Singapore office, but had only been working for the company for just over 6 months prior to that. how is it that i was exempt from this requirement?

Didn't you fill up your own visa form? I remembered having to write shit loads of stuff....Felt that it was pretty redundant!

Nope, Deloitte did it for me...they had a copy of my resume from my company but that as it. My application was painless!

Oh...maybe that explains....I had to fill up loads of paper work before giving them to my employer.

mfc was asked to provide documentation about all jobs though, as in references from the companies. did you have to do that sunniefaith?

The company getting me the visa is telling me they need employment references.

But i was reading the guideline issued by HK immigration id(e)937.pdf and on there it says 'copy of your service contract or letter of appointment'.

I interpret that to mean I can also submit job offer letters I've recieved for past jobs? Anyone disagree?

A brief letter (signed and on headed paper of course) from your last 3-4 employers will suffice.

    Good luck.

No references...I didn't provide any references at all...Just wrote on the form the companies that I used to work for. Sorry, didn't read the post carefully
