U.S. Passport Holder Moving to H.K.

    Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are planning to move to HK from NY in the next couple of months, we are planning to stay for 1 to 2 years. My husband has a job offer in HK so his company will get him his work visa. I, on the other hand, am not sure if I will find a job there before moving. So my question is, what kind of visa do I need to get to move to HK if I don't have a work visa? Can I get to HK first as a tourist and then apply for the visa to stay? I have a US Passport.

    Thanks!

    BXU

Assuming your husband has an Employment Visa then you can readily get a Dependent Visa (in fact your husband's employer, if they know what they are doing, should be applying for the two pretty much together). With that you can work or do whatever you want.

(Assuming you are legally married that is, otherwise the only way you can reside here would be to get an Employment or Study visa in your own right.)
