How many times can I enter Hong Kong

My partner is moving to HK on a year long contract. I however will be staying in the UK. I understand that as a UK passport holder I can visit for up to 180 days.

Does anyone know if I can break this up to 3 visits all of which is no more than 180 days

Yes, you would probably be ok to enter HK with 3 visits no more than 180 days. I don't think they would really disallow you entry as long as they didn't suspect you were working illegally or couldn't support yourself on your visits.

I would check that its 180 days though - I'm aussie and we were only allowed 90 days as a tourist.

    thx BEL

Pretty sure with UK citizen Passport it's up to 180 days, but I check it out. I know you Aussies suffer so much as partners one (Brisbane)! And she's staying on the 'gold coast' "no change there then"!!!! Thanks again.

    hehe

Well the UK is well off with 180 days! I guess you used to rule this place, so maybe that's why!

I forgot to add - you might be ok going to Macau or Shenzen (China) for a day trip to come back in for your next 180 days. These places are fairly close and where alot of people go to re-activate tourist visa days or HK visas once issued. Rather than going back to the UK and then coming back to HK. But you might like to travel back home too in between visiting your partner.

1 month? You may be able to border hop 1-2 times before being questioned. So not that long no.

And you are unlikely to get 30 days on re-entry unless that is the standard for wherever you come from (e.g. Brits get 180, Aussies get 90, Filipinos get 14).

And be aware that at any time when you try to re-enter an Immigration Officer can form a judgement that you are not a genuine tourist/visitor and formally note this in your passport and your HK ImmD record (and either refuse you entry, or grant it for a very limited period). Once you have such a note in your record you may well find it quite hard to enter HK in the future.
