    work visa rejections

I've got another question, slightly aside:

What would you guys estimate is the rejection rate of work visas for foreigners? And typically what would be the reasons?

I'm in one of those weird jobs where you kinda don't need a tersiary education to do what you have to, and so only have high school certificates. But I've had senior directorships in two global companies. I'm about to be hired to do a regional job and the person at the company who is submitting my visa application asked me for any academic certificates.

Will I crash and burn? Even if it is a big multi-national?

    Failure reasons:

-IMMD doesn't think you have the skills for the job you are going to be doing.

-IMMD feels a local could fit the role.

    -Not enough money.

Those are the reasons to deny.

Usually Hong Kong immigration do give weight to acdamic qualification. As you lack these, i mean you dont have University degree, so now they will see how big is the company which is calling you? And how good experiance in the related field do you have? And they will also see if your post can be filled by local employee. So all in all you have to satisfy the officer that you are qualified for this job and no other local person is available.

In Recent days, new officers have been appointed into the employment section of the immigration department, they are young and knows little. make sure you submit your full deatils to them, otherwise it is easy for them to refuse your application. DONT worry you can always apply for re-consideration and usually an experianced officer will review your application. They often come up with favourable decisions.
