    a simple question

Hi i was just wondering if there's a limit you can come in and out of the country before they start asking questions.
They give me a 30days tourist visa everytime i come in.
A good friend is moving there next year and i'm kinda taking care of him. Therefore I'll be kinda living there as well. Since we're not related whatsoever i can't ask for a dependancy visa; i'm planning on just come in and out as long as I'm not exceedin the 30 days limit.
Do you think it'll be a problem?

    Thank you

    just get a job here!

This happened with my boyfriend and i when we moved here.....
i was on a visa and he hadn't found a job yet so he was here on tourist visa, he is Hatian so he could stay only 15 days (i am american so i can stay 30, i think europeans have the same) after 2 crossings (for a day) to shenzen they questioned him, he told them 'i am visiting my girlfriend she is going to school here', they didnt really believe him and then he was like "she's right there" the guy came over and asked to see my passport, didnt open it but took my word with a smile that i was a student and let my boyfriend in. So i think

    1. Sadly is depends on ur country of origin
    2. where u cross and length of time u spend in that other country.
    3. if u have a 'decent' reason
    4. if u have patience and are nice

i think ur best bet if u plan on staying here for a while is to work, money goes fast in HK so a job would help ya.

As far as I have always known...family and friends that are traveling on US passport are given 90 days.

It does depend on what passport you are traveling on and the discretion of the immigration officer at the point of entry.

Yes, after around three such trips (sometimes more, sometimes less), unless you spend a significant amount of time outside of HK in between your visits, immigration will take notice. If you cannot provide an adequate reason for your re-entry as a tourist then immigration may deny you entry. Unfortunately acting as a carer for someone unrelated to you is probably considered employment and probably breaks immigration rules if you are in HK on a tourist visa.

I had a buddy who tried this on a Filipino passport and was eventually told he wouldn't be let back in. Don't know how many times he did the exit/entry thing, but it got to the point where they weren't going to let him do it anymore.

Hi guys! thanks for the quick responds!

yeah, it does sound scary if at the end they won't let you back in anymore. i wasn't plannin on going in/out in one day (like going to macau and back in one day), perhaps 1-2 weeks in between.

..i agree bout gettin a job there which i'll probably end up doing.
..or maybe he can hire me as his foreign domestic helper? whadaya think? ;0

    thanks all!

That may be a good idea - as long as you comply with all the rules I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I'm not sure if 1-2 weeks between visits is long enough to satisfy immigration for tourist visa purposes...

    Domestic Helpers:
-Can not work outside the home
-Cannot use e-channels for immigration clearance
-Can never get PR status with FDH visa.

Dependant visa would be the bomb as it opens up the most freedoms, but a work visa would work too. Aim for that before going for a helper visa.

    Thanks for the replies guys!
I think as long as he/she keeps coming back to his/her country of nationality it's not breaking any immigration laws.
