Questions related to QMAS and Student VISA

    Hey Guys,

Wanted to know if your QMAS is rejected once, can you apply for it again.
I have 120 points. I have applied for it. If it gets rejected. I plan to move to HK and take admission with a University and get two masters degree's which can give me 40 more points.

If i enroll in a University on a Student VISA, after my course ends, am i allowed to find a job and work there? Do students get a Hong Kong ID Card? For how long can a student stay in HK after his course ends?

Which is the best University in HK for Engineering?

Hope to hear from you guys..

    Cheers!

120 points is pretty good points, it is high enough. Yes, you can apply if you have been rejected once or even twice... In fact, I was rejected my first time as I didn't include enough money (or knowing how much to include) in the application. Ideally, the next time you apply though, your situation be an improvement from the last one.

Honestly you don't need to complete two masters to get another 40 points. Probably one is enough? While doing two masters at the same time is not impossible, but normally the University would not like this to happen. Mind you, if you have 160 points and ImmD do not see the merit in you, which often have to do with HK's social needs and how you can contribute, you can still be rejected.

HK Social needs is not up to us to interpret actually. Their needs will change from time to time and if you read the QMAS guideline, they seemed to say that they will have meetings on regular basis with experts or stake holders from various kinds of industry. I guess that's when they present the seleted QMAS candidates to these people. Unfortunately these meetings and the result of it are not often known to the outside world.

I guess you just have to put a bit of thinking cap on to think like the ImmD or these "expert" of what you can contribute to the HK society. It is not an easy one actually.

A lot of my friends who are applying for the QMAS would like to write down that they wanted to do a PhD in one of the universities in HK. I have no doubt about their ability in doing so, but honestly would that be a contribution towards the HK society in short term? It is up for debate, I guess. My hunch is that they prefer someone with a bit of senior experience to hit the ground and run at their jobs. A graduate of any kind will need to be groomed before they can really take charge on things. If you know what I mean.

As for my experience through the QMAS, you can use the search engine. I am an architect by the way.
