If your BF has a 2 year teaching job, I am guessing it is the edb NET? If you are white, you can get a teaching english job in less than a week. Otherwise just go to Macau and come back every 3 months to renew your visa. Depends on your nationality as for how long you get.

Macau and HK and China are 3 separate countries, per say, for ease of understanding. All have separate visas, money, etc.

In other words, I would not worry

Telling someone not to worry, just do visa runs is somewhat irresponsible. Yes, yes, yes, we've all heard the bullshit stories about a friend of a friend who did this for umpteen years and was never questioned. But the reality is that there are those who get stopped and questioned on their very first visa run. The OP could find themselves with a shortened visa and have only a few days to pack up and leave. The OP would have to ask themselves whether it is worth the risk - and the stress.

And it just has to be said... "per say"? Really?

Yes, and China could also cancel all of the property leases and revert control of all land. Anything is possible. And what's wrong with "per say"?

You explain the visa/money situation to someone between the 3, it's a difficult concept for many to grasp.

A more realistic approach for the OP would be to enroll in one of Hong Kong's universities to study something of interest/use to her and thus obtain a student visa.

Either is possible, but she has a 3 month visa, perhaps, upon arrival which should be sufficient time to figure it out.

Perhaps some of us forget the difficultes involved in moving overseas and making decisions solely based on the internet. In person is far better, IMO.

Have you considered trying to teach English? If you are a native speaker, do a teaching course overseas (look on the other threads, there are many about them) and then get a lowish paid job as an English teacher in a centre. If you are a personal trainer then that means you have some experience of dealing with the general public!

You may be able to get a JOB as a personal trainer (I know at least one expat personal trainer) but getting a visa to go with it is much harder. Basically for a work visas you need a skill not generally found in HK.

Other options as noted above: Marriage -> Dependent Visa; University -> Study visa; you can look at a QMAS visa and see if you score enough points (you might) but that route is long and tortuous. Or if you are rich you can go for an investment visa!
